Valjean McNeill Whitlow, M.A., Ph.D.
Background:
Dr. Whitlow earned a B.A. degree in Psychology in 1986 and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Psychology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1989 and 1993, respectively. She is currently licensed to practice psychology in Tennessee, Massachusetts and Georgia and is credentialed as a Health Service Provider by the National Register in Psychology.
She has an extensive background in teaching and clinical practice, and her research publications have been in the area of substance abuse and the impact of it on children and families.
Bio:
Dr. Whitlow, a native of Roselle, New Jersey, moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the summer of 1982 to attend Spelman College.
She has taught at some of the nations’ premier teaching and research universities, all of which have been ranked in US. News and World Reports including: Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA; Belmont University in Nashville, TN.; Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, MA; and Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA. Her most recent teaching appointment was Adjunct Professor at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
Dr. Whitlow is in private practice in Roswell, Georgia where she provides assessment and counseling services to individuals, couples, families and children (age 5 and up).
