Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician™


Dr. Vay is a licensed professional counselor and a certified professional counselor supervisor. She is the first Board Certified DBT clinician certified through the Linehan Board of Certification in the state of Georgia. She moved to Atlanta in August 2013 from Pittsburgh, PA to continue her education at which time she began working in Fulton County Schools in both the alternative school and GNETS (Georgia Network for Education and Therapeutic Support).  In addition to providing therapy services, Dr. Vay facilitates training and workshops for clinicians in DBT treatment focusing on clients who endorse mood lability, anxiety, non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors and suicidal behaviors. She has also been a guest speaker at the National GAP Conference (The Global Alliance for Prevention and Early Intervention for BPD) along with Perry Hoffman, PhD – President & Co-Founder National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder.In addition to helping her clients reached their goals, Dr. Vay is committed to helping other clinicians build their confidence and skills in delivering the efficacy of the model as it was written by Dr. Linehan.  DBT consultation can provide helpful support and feedback in a nonjudgmental environment. Consultation can be provided on an individual bases or in a group setting.


Dr. Vay has extensive experience delivering DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) in group, individual and family settings. In addition to being a certified DBT clinician, she has formal training in Prolonged Exposure-DBT for trauma.  Dr. Vay has been working with children, adolescents, adults and families for over a decade. Her experience is in a variety of settings including the community, public school system, outpatient/private practice and residential psychiatric hospitals. She specializes in treatment of mood lability, anxiety, depression, non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors and suicidal behaviors.  Her passion is helping individuals learn healthy and adaptive coping strategies and skills to effectively manage intense emotions and feelings and to build a Life Worth Living.

Dr. Vay’s therapeutic approach comes from a non-judgmental stance believing that her role as a therapist is to help her clients reach their goals and she believes that therapy is a real relationship between two people.
